Sister Jane Livesey CJ MA (Cantab)

Sister Jane Livesey is a member of the Congregation of Jesus, founded by the Venerable Mary Ward. She read History and Divinity at Cambridge and gained her PGCE at St Mary’s Strawberry Hill. She then taught at St Mary’s Shaftesbury for three years, before being appointed Headmistress, a post she held until 1998. Subsequently she moved to Cambridge and undertook work as the Mary Ward chaplain in two other Mary Ward schools before being appointed Provincial Superior of the English Province of the CJ in 2002, a post she held until her election as General Superior of the Congregation of Jesus worldwide in 2011, a post she held until 2022. As well as being a trustee of the Oscar Romero Award Trust, she is on various other boards related to the life of the Catholic Church in England and Wales. As and when time allows, she is a part-time chaplain in St Mary’s Cambridge and has a small number of people for spiritual accompaniment.
